Our online resources will support the course content for both AS level and A level following the Cambridge International Examinations specification.
At AS level students sit two exams both worth 50% of the grade (60 marks each); Approaches, Issues and Debates; and Research Methods.
To qualify for A Level students sit two additional papers based on two out of four options; Specialist Options in Approaches, Issues and Debates and Specialist Options in Application and Research Methods (60 marks each).
For CIE AS and A Level Psychology, students:
(i) take Papers 1 and 2 only (for the CIE AS Level qualification)
or
(ii) follow a staged assessment route by taking Papers 1 and 2 (for CIE AS Level qualification) in one examination series, then Papers 3 and 4 (for the CIE A Level qualification) in a later examination series
or
(iii) take Papers 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the same examination series, leading to the full CIE A Level.
At AS level students will study 12 core studies across four different areas of Psychology, including Research Methods.
At A Level students will study two out of four specialist options. The specialist options build on the work from AS and explore how Psychology can be applied in a range of contexts.
Both include issues and debates.
The specialist options build on the work for AS and explore how Psychology can be applied in a range of contexts. Students are required to study how Psychology is applied in two of the following four areas: Clinical Psychology, Consumer Behaviour, Health Psychology and Organisational Psychology.
